So, now I need to fix the linux /dev/sda disk.TestDisk is a free data recovery tool designed to recover lost partitions and make non-booting disks bootable again. I can mount those now, but I still can't boot into windows. ![]() Testdisk had no problem with /dev/sdb (the windows disk), it found all partitions in seconds and I wrote the partition table to disk. I've backed up pretty much all my irreplaceable files onto an ipod. ![]() Upon reboot, blank screen/gibberish where GRUB menu loader used to be. Suddenly, GParted no longer sees hard drives at all. I have log files for those operations if it helps. Erased that partition again, tried to create reiserfs partition.Then I tried to create NTFS partition in the empty space.I shrank the FAT32 partition on the Ubuntu drive (sda), creating some empty space, no problem.I was repartitioning the linux hard drive using GParted when something got screwed up. There are also FAT32 partitions on both drives exclusively for data files. I dual boot windows XP (NTFS, on 40BG drive /dev/sdb) and ubuntu 8.10 (ReiserFS, on another 120GB hard drive /dev/sda).
